Space Scooter Girl Saves Xmas - Comic

Space Scooter Girl Saves Xmas - Comic

Ok, first a little quick background info on this.  Originally this was going to be part of a little anthology book a few of us wanted to put together for Christmas ... well, best layed plans and all that jazz.

Bottom line, book didn't happen but at least I got my short story done.

The art could be cleaner, but drawing 5 x 8 inch pages in scale on crappy paper at midnight over three days, well it kinda limits the results, but over all I came out pretty good.

First image is the character designs, originally I had no idea what I was going to write or draw for my story, all I knew was I wanted something cute, sexy and "PG" enough to not put off parents at the Xmas CAM-JAM (Decembers Cartoon Art Museum's artist Jam).

Anyway I hope you'll all enjoy this silly short story.

ALLEY CATS

 ALLEY CATS - Comic Book

UPDATE: A couple of unexpected outcomes from Alley Cats.

ONE : It's been far more popular among women than I thought it would be, given the characters are a "Street Walker" (to be polite) and a bit of a Con Artist Alley Cat.

I guess it proves women really like cats a lot or at least enough to over look the female character's obvious profession.

TWO : Alley Cats has gotten me a lot of praise and kind words about my artwork from people that I respect in the field of comics, many of whom have never really seen my work before.

THREE : This little book helped me come very close to winning an award, that was a surprise.

Anyway ... Here's the Cover and a page sample from my latest "Micro" AshCan Comic "Alley Cats".  I call this one "Micro" as the story itself only six pages long.  But don't let that fool you, for what seems on the surface a simple story I packed in a lot of underlying meanings and layers to the characters, you just have to think about it to discover them for yourself.

The stories title is ALLEY CATS "Birds of a Feather" and it's indirectly about people (or in this case a cat and a person)  and how we perceive and treat each other, that we are all more alike than not and finding each other and each fore filling a need for another and receiving in kind.  And like Aesop Fables there's at least one moral to the story.

Now before you think I’ve gone all “touchy-feely” in the head or something, that’s the under lying story (or one of them at least) , the story is still lovingly written and illustrated in my best tacky gritty urban cheese ball style and humor.

Why… because only I can make “trashy” adorable.

The artwork for Alley Cats was done in a traditional comic book style of ink on paper over penciled layouts using 11 x 17 Blueline Pro Comic Book Page Paper, Kurtake Brush Pen, Kamimei Drawing Ink.

Hack /Slash Sketch Card for 5Finity Productions

After doing two sets of 5finity's Zombies VS Cheerleaders sketch cards I doubt it will come as a shock to anyone that I've been working on writer/artist Tim Seeley's Hack /Slash sketch card series for 5fiity Productions.

So I thought I'd post one of the cards I did in the series to wet your appetites and hopefully motivate everyone to jump on what promises to be an outstanding card set.

Natasha Yi - Sketch Card

Here's an early or late depending on how you want to look at it birthday present I did for my friend Natasha Yi and her comical little  dogs.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure who's more comical, her or the dogs ... she's pretty funny sometimes.

There's a nice view of it in it's frame on Natasha's blog here: LINK >

Hooters Girl Picket Line ?

Hooters Girl Picket Line

Unfair Wage Practices in California

OK, I saw this article in the New York Times on Hooters getting sued for unfair wage practices in California and well, I just couldn't help but whip up a quick cartoon.

I mean, wouldn't this be like the most fun picket line EVER!

Now mind you I like having lunch at Hooters now and then, and I'm making a little joke about Hooters Girls in picket lines, but I'm in full support the girls.

See, my mom was a waitress for more years than one would or could imagine someone working as a waitress.

So I believe a good wait staff has as much to do with the success of a restaurant as the food does.

So for a company to cheat the wait staff either by cheating on their wages or shorting their tips is just wrong.

As an artist I maybe dirt poor, but I try to leave a tip when a waitress or waiter is good and I'd like to think at the end of the day they get it.

Final Note:

Ok, so I reused some of my prior art of The Dame to speed up the process and get this done ... sue me.

Cartoon for PimpArtworks.com

Cartoon for Pimpartworks.com

Here's a cartoon I did recently for PimpArtworks.com , it's part of a promo mailing package they're going to send out to ... um, somebody, everybody, I'm not sure really, but it's got stickers and info and stuff so it'll be pretty cool.

The web site itself  is pretty neat, artist specializing in Urban Art or Graffiti (and I guess other styles too)  can post artworks and the artist can sell people prints of the art in assorted sizes.

I have an account there ( See gWebber Prints at Pimpartworks Account ) and got a Canvas print not long ago, colors and print quality is very good.

THIS CARTOON IS PROPERTY OF PIMPARTWORKS.COM AND IS NOT FOR PUBLIC USE.

Airport Secuity and Insecurities

With my trip overseas and my experiences with the Airport TSAs and the recent events in the news about air travel and the "Underwear Bomber" ( I guess we know now what Victoria's Secret is) I guess I couldn't help but come up with a cartoon that I think sums it up for most of us.

THIS CARTOON IS FOR SALE for newsletters, magazines or websites.

I never thought I'd say this ...

Posted by nocashcomics on December 2, 2009 at 6:15 AM Comments comments (0)

I never thought I'd say this in my life time, but...

I had Squid Ink for dinner. Ya, you heard me right, Squid Ink ... in the Mall in Manila there's a place called Congo Grille and one of their dishes is rice coated with Squid Ink.  As strange as it might sound at first, it's actually pretty good (Ya, I was surprized too).

Anyway hope you enjoy my cartoon rendition of the moment.

Hope you enjoyed the cartoon. I'll be trying to do more as I travel around the Philippines over the next two weeks.

Fun with Colonoscopy, Really?

Posted by nocashcomics on November 21, 2009 at 8:25 PM Comments comments (1)

Fun with Colonoscopy, Really?

This is a cartoon I did while the wife and I were at the Doctor's for a Colonoscopy.

Normally I can't envision a Colonoscopy as being "fun", but in this case it seems to have worked out.

The Doctors and Nurses liked it so much they wanted a copy for their office.

P.S. This cartoon is for Sale if anyone in the Medical Profession is interested in using it for a newsletter or something.

Hope you got a giggle out of it.
